05-25-21: Resumption of Face-to-Face meetings at Recreation Centers
The VCC Board of Directors met on Tuesday 5/25/2021, and made some far-reaching decisions regarding the future. The Board has decided to cancel all of the remaining 2021 meeting dates at the La Hacienda rec center, and the VCC will no longer meet at La Hacienda in 2022 and beyond. However, starting in July, 2021 we will resume in person meetings at the Lake Miona and Rohan rec centers. Zoom will continue to be a part of our future and will use Zoom in what are known as hybrid meetings at Miona & Rohan. Whenever possible we will simultaneously run a traditional in person meeting at the rec center and use Zoom at the same time for the benefit of those who can’t make it to that meeting in person.
Therefore, our schedule going forward will be as follows:
1st Friday via Zoom (not in person), 2nd Friday @ Miona, and 3rd Friday @ Rohan.
This of course is subject to finalization & confirmation. Based on the scheduling allowed the VCC by the Recreation Dept., at the beginning of 2021, we cannot meet at Lake Miona on July 9th 2021 which is the 2nd Friday in July.
And as fate would have it, our first “new in person” meeting in July of 2021 falls on Friday July 2nd which of course is the start of a major Holiday weekend (July 4th). As a result, we will NOT meet on July 2, 2021 via Zoom, but we will meet via Zoom on July 9th at 1:00pm (again, it’s Zoom because we have been shut out of the Lake Miona site on that date). July 2021 then is a very unusual month since we will only meet once via Zoom on 7/9 and once at Rohan on 7/16. So, to give you a better feel of how this will work going forward, here are the new regular meeting dates/venues for August, 2021:
Aug 06th (1st Friday) via Zoom only,
Aug 13th (2nd Friday) @ Lake Miona,
Aug 20th (3rd Friday) @ Rohan.
That pattern will be as permanent as we can make it, subject to the whims of the recreation department.
Thank you all for your understanding and your patience during this unprecedented and bizarre period of time. Please hang in there with us as we work thru the inevitable glitches that will arise as we attempt to get back to what will eventually become our new normal.
Best regards.
